Esports are not as mainstream as traditional sports in the US, but the number of esports fans globally is still sizable. The worldwide esports audience reached 335 million in 2017, according to Newzoo.

Protesters stormed the US embassy in Baghdad and torched parts of it on New Year's Eve

The demonstrations were sparked by US attacks on a militia in Iraq and Syria Sunday, in which 25 were killed.
